Letter from the Convention Chair

Ladies and gentlemen good evening
You've seen that seeing is believing
Your ears and your eyes will be bleeding
Please check to see if you're still breathing

Hold tight cause the show it’s not over
If you will please move in closer
You’re about to be bowled over
By the wonders you're about to behold here

- "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva
from the album "Bloodstained Love Story"

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to our new website and new convention year. After ten years of work, we are still going strong and we have every intention of remaining your convention. At the same time, we are increasing the way we interact with you, our faithful and steadfast fans.

So guys, what do you think about the new digs? Aren’t they awesome? We're also adding a ton of new functionality to the page in an attempt to find other ways to reach out to all of you. As the year goes on and as we get closer to the convention, you will see more new things being brought on line.

We’re not trying to re-invent the wheel over here at ACen, but we are trying to take this convention to the next level of the game, and we realize that we cannot even make it out of the gate without your help. Because of that, one of the first things that you will see is our new registration system.

We freely admit that there were problems with our registration process last year. So at the end of the last convention year - one week after the con - we all met at our offices and sat down and analyzed what went wrong and then put together a plan to fix those issues. The first step was a total rebuild of our registration system including the attendee interface, database, and distribution node. In fact, by the time you read this, we will have already given this system a full live test and we can say that it works better than we have anticipated. I think that you will be satisfied with the results.

Beyond that, we are trying to implement more methods of interactivity within our user systems. We need to be able to hear from you and get your input on the things we are planning for the con. As you may have seen, we are already querying you about a lot of things and you will see more than a few of them on the website and forums in days to come.

Well, that’s enough. I don’t need to lay down the hard sell on the amazing convention goodness that is Anime Central. Just keep checking the site and if you have questions, do not hesitate to ask us.

Ladies and Gentlemen…welcome to the show.

Welcome to Anime Central 2008.

Sincerely,

Beryl J. Turner III
